Shaylee Krishnen is an Indian actress and model, who predominantly works in Malayalam, Tamil, and also Hindi language movies and web series. Hailing from Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir, Shaylee has come a long way and has acted in several films in her entire professional life as an actor. She made her first acting debut back in 2012.

Shaylee was born in Srinagar, at a camp where poverty was the trend. Since it was Jammu and Kashmir, and the situations there were horrific, Shaylee’s father was educated, thus being able to secure a job in a Kashmiri bank. Since he was able to earn the family’s daily bread, Shaylee was able to still lead a life that wasn’t plagued with the extremities of poverty that hounded the state. 

Her father was able to purchase a new house after 8 years of Shaylee living in a tent – wherein she was unable to enjoy the basic necessities of life like being able to use the washroom or have a personal space to sleep in. 

Since her family had to flee from Anantnag with thousands of other Kashmiri Pandits back in 1980, Shaylee’s family despite being descendants of a royal family, had to really rough it out in a refugee camp after being forced to flee their luxurious villa, for several years even Shaylee’s birth.

Shaylee completed her education at Kashmiri Girls Secondary School but not much information is given about her further education however we can expect that she had completed her graduate degree despite having to live in a refugee camp for several years, in Jammu and Kashmir state. 

Career

Shaylee was interested in films from a young age no doubt, but it was her elder brother Adithya who used to work in film productions in Bengaluru, who really introduced her to the world of cinema and acting. 

By the time, she was 14 years old, Shaylee managed to appear in her debut film ‘Urumi’ in 2012, in a cameo role. Although it was a small role, she had created the impact of a beautiful Kashmiri girl and with time, producers and filmmakers took notice of her.

Shortly after her debut, she started working as a model and during one of her shows, a well-known Indian cinematographer named Ravi Varma changed the entire course of her life by clicking some of her photographs which interestingly resembled the 1985 National Geographic Magazine cover featuring a Kashmiri girl with green eyes. 

Varman subsequently shared these photos with Indian director Santosh Sivan – who eventually offered Shaylee the golden opportunity to feature in several films including ‘Moha’ which was his own masterpiece. She was offered the role of playing ‘Apsara’. 

After this, she has appeared in several films including ‘Bermuda’ in 2021, ‘The Last Hour’, ‘Jack and Jill’ and more. Over her entire professional journey, Shaylee has had the fortune to act opposite top cats like Sanjay Kapoor, Raima Sen, and Karma Takapa. 

One of the more notable performances of hers includes her role as the lady love of Kalidas’ character in Jack and Jill.
